spontaneous overflow

I learned today that the average desk is 29 inches tall. This standard was established during WWII, when it was determined that it was the ideal height for those working to decode messages; the average person decoding messages was male, and about 6’1”.

As such, my desk is 5-7 inches too tall for me. Thanks to today’s ergonomics assessment, the library will find me a little desk. Hurray, little desks! And, you know, relief from weird wrist pain.

On an unrelated note, one of the students in a class I taught today came up to me afterwards to tell me that my hair was “perfect” and “so pretty.” Thank you, random student. You have no idea how much that means to me.
